Charm City • Eastern Shore • Naval AcademyCharter Bus Rental in Baltimore, MD
"Charter bus" is the umbrella term we use for full-service coach and mini-coach rentals where you book the whole bus and driver for your group. Same DOT-certified fleet as our motor coaches, but with flexible configurations for smaller parties.
About our Charter Buses
A charter bus is a bus hired exclusively for your group — you set the pickup, the stops, the timing. Baltimore Trips operates charter buses in three size tiers so the cost scales with the group: 24 to 32 passenger mini-coaches, 35 passenger shuttle coaches, and 40 to 56 passenger full-size motor coaches. The distinction from a "coach bus" is mostly marketing; operationally, every vehicle in our charter fleet meets DOT passenger carrier standards, carries $5M in commercial liability insurance, and rolls with a full-time professional driver.
Typical clients: Event planners, corporate HR departments, wedding coordinators, schools, sports clubs, destination-marketing groups, local nonprofits.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a charter bus and a motor coach?
Operationally, almost nothing. "Charter bus" describes the booking model — you rent the whole vehicle exclusively. "Motor coach" describes the vehicle type — a full-size 40+ passenger highway coach. A mini-coach charter is still a charter bus, just a smaller vehicle.
Do you serve outside Baltimore?
Yes — we charter from Baltimore to anywhere in the Eastern US and cross-country. Common Baltimore-departure destinations include New York, DC, Boston, Williamsburg, Disney/Orlando, Niagara Falls, and all major college campuses within a 10-hour drive.
Can we add stops to the itinerary mid-trip?
Yes, with an advance note to dispatch — added stops affect driver hours-of-service and fuel, so pricing may adjust. Routine stops (lunch, restroom, photo-op) are included in standard pricing.
Do charter buses have seat belts?
Full-size coaches manufactured since 2016 have 3-point seat belts at every seating position; older units have lap belts. School-bus chartered units use the NHTSA-standard school-bus seat geometry (compartmentalization). Ask when booking if belts are a requirement.
Is WiFi really usable on the bus?
It's cellular-backhauled Wi-Fi — great on I-95 and major interstates, spotty in rural mountain passes. We don't recommend planning a video conference around it, but for email and light browsing it's fine.
Can we charter a bus for a one-way trip?
Yes. One-way pricing accounts for the deadhead return — typically 50–70% of a round-trip quote. Common one-ways from Baltimore: to NYC for weddings, to DC for rallies/marches, to Boston for reunions.
